A few Tribal Nations with Public recreation areas:
- Skokomish Indian Tribe (Southern Olympic Peninsula): Skokomish Park at Lake Cushman is an SSC favorite. A great entry point for beginners. Deep in an oldgrowth forest on a beautiful lake, but only 10 minutes from a grocery store. Plus the park is loaded with convenient amenities like a camp store, showers and canoe/SUP/kayak rentals.
- Quileute Tribe (LaPush area) Want the scenery but not the camping? If a dramatic ocean view, cozy cabin, and roaring fireplace sound more your speed, Quileute Oceanside Resort is hard to beat.
- Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation (Northeast / North-Central WA) A mix of forests, rivers, and open landscapes with opportunities for hiking, camping, fishing, swimming, and wildlife viewing. More info here
- Makah Tribe (Neah Bay / Olympic Peninsula) Rugged coastal landscapes, sea stacks, and some of the most dramatic ocean views in the state. Great for beach camping, tidepooling, and exploring the edge of the continent. Permits required for camping.
