About
A lush, classic PNW waterfall hike that follows Wallace River through dense forest, leading you past a series of increasingly dramatic waterfalls.
Why it’s great
I love this hike! It is pure Pacific Northwest. Mossy trees, and constant rushing river soundtrack. Each section has its own payoff, so it never feels like a single long push. This park is a “choose your own adventure” vibe depending on how far you go, with the Upper Falls delivering the biggest view.
It’s a great hike for practicing pacing, endurance, and learning how your body feels on sustained uphill terrain. You can turn around at several points (Lower, Middle, or Upper Falls), making it flexible depending on energy and conditions.
Good to know
Located in Wallace Falls State Park. Requires a Discover Pass
This is a popular hike, weekends can be very busy, especially in summer. If you want a quieter experience, aim for early mornings or weekdays.
The trail is well-maintained but consistently uphill, and it can get muddy or slippery in wet seasons due to heavy foot traffic.
